In 2003, George Rodrigue painted Mike the Tiger in response to his son Jacques' request for help in raising funds to improve the LSU mascot's living conditions. Sales from prints of Mike the Tiger raised more than $1 million, building Mike a large and elaborate habitat on the LSU grounds.
